Komprise, a leader in analytics-driven unstructured data management, has announced Komprise Transparent File Tables, which provides a structured view of enterprise unstructured data to leading AI, business intelligence, and analytics platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks. Data engineers, data scientists, and analysts can now query and use unstructured data as an Apache Iceberg table in their familiar environment, avoiding massive costs for large-scale data movement. Although unstructured data accounts for over 80% of enterprise data, less than 1% is used in AI, according to IDC. This data remains dark due to lack of consistent schema, poor quality, and the difficulty and cost of moving petabytes from multi-vendor storage across NAS and cloud. Komprise Transparent File Tables leverages the company's distributed, scale-out architecture to globally classify unstructured data and present a tabular high-quality schema. The table includes enriched metadata and a pointer to the data using patented Transparent Move Technology (TMT), which enables remote data access without moving files, loading data only when needed. **Example Use Cases:** - Analytics dashboards combining structured and unstructured data (e.g., a pharmaceutical company querying project files in Snowflake or Databricks and joining with ERP and instrument data). - AI pipelines (e.g., a media and entertainment AI agent using structured project data to identify and summarize relevant media archives). **How It Works:** 1. Komprise indexes enterprise data across datacenters and hybrid cloud into a Global Metadatabase. 2. IT adds rich context via content scanning, metadata tagging, and AI services. 3. IT exports subsets as Apache Iceberg tables in data lakehouses. 4. Data teams query using familiar BI/analytics tools without needing Komprise knowledge. 5. Komprise enforces data governance via user access permissions. For full files, TMT uses Intelligent AI Ingest, moving only needed files at 2x standard speed. “The reason 99% of enterprise unstructured data has been dark to AI is that discovering its schema and moving it is inherently complex and costly,” said Kumar K. Goswami, CEO and co-founder of Komprise. “Transparent File Tables opens a whole new world to AI.” Komprise Transparent File Tables is now available for early access.
