Global demand for power generation is growing at a pace unseen in decades, driven by electrification of industry and transport, expansion of AI data centers, and modernization of aging grids. Siemens Energy, which provides technology across the full energy value chain—from gas and steam turbines to grid infrastructure and wind power—reports a record total order backlog of €154 billion as of Q2 fiscal year 2026. To meet this demand, the company is shifting to apply AI to engineering and operations, accelerating design cycles and scaling operations faster with lower cost and sovereign control. Antonio Neri, president and CEO of HPE, noted that infrastructure has become the defining constraint for scaling AI. HPE provides Siemens Energy with a platform built for high-performance compute and the agentic enterprise. Siemens Energy’s technical teams use high-throughput simulation and AI-driven design to model turbine behavior for diverse environments, from Arctic to equatorial. Using GPU and Nvidia CUDA-X accelerated CFD (e.g., Siemens Simcenter StarCCM+), simulation times are cut from days or weeks to hours, enabling faster design of next-generation low-carbon turbomachinery. Digital twin technology with Nvidia Omniverse and predictive maintenance monitor the global installed base. Much of Siemens Energy’s equipment serves highly regulated applications under US and EU export control. HPE addresses this with a private cloud via GreenLake Flex, providing expansive CPU, GPU, storage, and network resources. Where public cloud pricing became unsustainable, GreenLake Flex offers affordable pay-per-use. Siemens Energy retains full operational control; HPE manages infrastructure. The platform uses HPE ProLiant servers with AMD EPYC processors, Nvidia accelerated computing, Nvidia Quantum InfiniBand networking, and Nvidia AI Enterprise software for AI and machine learning. HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 delivers simulation performance and long-term data retention for regulatory compliance. The US site is operational; the German site is on track for full deployment by mid-2026.
