COMPUTEX 2026 concluded under the theme "AI Together," spotlighting global advances in AI, HPC, and intelligent systems. A key collaboration addressed the challenge of designing complex AI chips: S2C, the world’s largest prototyping verification company, partnered with RISC-V processor IP leader Andes Technology. They delivered a joint presentation and live demonstration of the Andes AX66 Edge AI platform running on S2C’s flagship Prodigy S8-100 prototyping system. The rapid growth of AI and HPC has dramatically increased SoC complexity, with designs containing multi-core clusters, AI accelerators, and custom extensions, often reaching hundreds of billions of gates. This strains traditional verification methods. S2C and Andes strengthened their long-term partnership to combine advanced RISC-V technology with FPGA-based prototyping, enabling earlier architecture evaluation, software validation, and hardware issue detection. At COMPUTEX, the live demo showcased Andes’ AX66 processor IP (compliant with RVA23 RISC-V) on S2C’s Prodigy S8-100, powered by the AMD Versal Premium VP1902 adaptive SoC (approx. 100 million ASIC-gate equivalent per FPGA). Running on a Linux KVM virtualization platform, the system launched two virtual machines executing a Llama2-based LLM called TinyStories (42 million parameters), demonstrating RISC-V’s efficiency for edge AI where power, cost, and flexibility are critical. S2C’s Prodigy S8-100 uses advanced multi-FPGA prototyping and tools like Player Pro for easy compilation, partitioning, and debugging. This enables parallel hardware/software development, reducing risk and time-to-market. S2C Vice President Ying emphasized that no single company can innovate alone; S2C focuses on an open ecosystem integrating processor IP, architecture evaluation, software development, and application validation early in the design cycle. Leveraging over 20 years of prototyping expertise, partnerships (e.g., Andes), and global support, S2C helps lower innovation barriers. The S2C-Andes collaboration demonstrates how integrated EDA and IP solutions drive RISC-V innovation, providing a complete methodology from concept to mass production.
