OpenAI announced its in-house chip effort, the Jalapeño Intelligence Platform, built with Broadcom in a significant win for its design team. The platform uses Broadcom Tomahawk networking silicon, with Celestica providing board and rack-scale infrastructure. Facing massive demand for model serving, OpenAI is investing in its own silicon, mirroring traditional hyper-scalers. The company stated it taped out its accelerator in just nine months using its own design models. The silicon is already running GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark in the lab.
